When I did my first HD extraction, I figured Radio Shack would be guaranteed to carry Torx 8 (and 9). Plus they were closer than Sears, and it’s a lot faster to pop in and out. I was wrong. I have no idea why, but Radio Shack seemed to carry every other size Torx but 8 and 9.
I now own a pair of Craftsmen Torx 8 and 9 drivers. I got mine from Sears, but if you have an Orchard Supply Hardware near you, they carry Craftsmen now as well.

ps- I don’t remember why I also needed T9. It could have been ancient 20th century PowerBook tech. But my T9 is here by the desk while my T8 is away in the toolkit. And I think I just used the T9 to remove the 3.5″ drive from my flat panel iMac G5 which just died.
