Can anyone please tell me if the speaker on the ipod touch is good or loud enough to listen to talk radio type podcasts without having to use the earbuds.Thanks in advance.

Dave is right on. I’ve backed up iTunes music to an external HD, by deselecting or not selecting other stuff. Another option is backup to a 2nd PC. Example: My Asus netbook does NOT havve iTunes, yet it has my favorite music from the laptop having iTunes.
